Fraunhofer FEP Advances Transparent Barrier Technology

We are excited to announce the release of a new scientific paper acknowledging the support of the BOOSTER project, now available as a journal pre-proof.

Researchers at Fraunhofer FEP, a key partner in the BOOSTER consortium, have published their latest findings in the study titled: “Highly Transparent Aluminum Silicon Oxynitride Permeation Barriers for Optoelectronic Devices.”

The work focuses on the development and characterization of sputtered aluminum silicon oxynitride (AlSiON) layers, designed to serve as transparent permeation barrier front sheets for flexible optoelectronic applications. These materials are vital for protecting sensitive components in devices such as flexible solar cells, OLEDs, and other organic electronic systems, where both transparency and long-term stability are essential.
