Apply for BOOSTER Design Contest by 01 June
The BOOSTER project continues to inspire creative thinking through its Design Contest video series, featuring four short videos that explore how solar energy can be seamlessly integrated into architecture and public spaces.
Rather than treating solar as an add-on, the series highlights a new approach: designing solar as part of the concept itself — functional, aesthetic, and fully embedded into the built environment.
🎬 Four Videos, One Message
The four videos showcase a range of inspiring examples that demonstrate how organic photovoltaics (OPV) can be seamlessly integrated into design — across architecture, public spaces, and everyday environments:
💡 Video #1 — Solar in Architecture
Example: Mobile architecture with integrated solar power
This concept illustrates how solar can be embedded into mobile and flexible structures, combining design, technology, and sustainability into a single, integrated solution /LINK/
💡 Video #2 — Urban Furniture
Example: Smart solar bench
This example highlights how energy-generating urban furniture can become part of everyday life, using transparent OPV modules to produce and store electricity for a fully autonomous and functional design /LINK/
💡 Video #3 — Inspired by Nature
Example: Nature-inspired solar structures
Drawing inspiration from nature, this concept explores how structures can provide shade while generating energy, blending seamlessly into parks, streets, and public spaces /LINK/
💡 Video #4 — Solar in Everyday Spaces
Example: Printed OPV solar umbrellas
This example demonstrates how lightweight, semi-transparent shading elements can combine user comfort with energy generation, naturally integrating solar into the spaces we use every day /LINK/
A Call for Creative Minds
The BOOSTER-OPV Design Contest invites designers, architects, students, and innovators to rethink how solar energy can be used in everyday environments. Participants are challenged to develop an innovative concept using 5 m² of flexible OPV film, combining creativity, functionality, and real-world applicability. The winning concept will be realised as a small-scale demonstrator, turning ideas into tangible solutions.
To enter the design contest, an application form must be completed and submitted digitally by email to admin@booster-opv.eu . All details are available at: https://booster-opv.eu/booster-design-contest/
